ABOUT THIS CAMPAIGN

Vision Sports Club, AMRAP Fitness, and the Children’s Cancer Institute at HackensackUMC have joined forces to help Tackle Kids Cancer, helping those who need it most by advancing research and providing children in our community access to the highest level of care. We invite you to join the team, where every dollar raised benefits the essential clinical care, unique support services and ground-breaking research needed to find a cure.

For nearly 30 years, the Children’s Cancer Institute has stood as a beacon of hope for children and families dealing with pediatric cancer in New Jersey. With more than 100 active oncology and transplant clinical trials currently open, our Institute is leading the charge to cure childhood cancer. Diseases that were once considered incurable now boast an overall survival rate of approximately 80 percent, with several tumors having cure rates in the high-90 percent range. But, there is still work to do! Research is needed to find a cure.

Here are some key areas that money raised through Tackle Kids Cancer will fund:

Pediatric Neuro-oncology Program: The Children’s Cancer Institute recently established its Pediatric Neuro-oncology Program to focus on the clinical and research needs of children with brain and spinal cord tumors. HackensackUMC will be assuming the role of lead institution in a joint phase I effort with the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and was recently accepted as a participating site in a multi-institutional trial based out of Johns Hopkins.

Developmental Therapeutics Program: As the only comprehensive pediatric phase I and II trial program in New Jersey, this program will explore new drugs and for patients with curable diseases and patients with rare and advanced cancers for whom traditional therapies have failed.

Cancer Genetics Program: By gaining a deeper understanding of pediatric cancer at a molecular level, physicians are able to prescribe personalized treatments that specifically target mutations within a patient’s tumor.

Transplant Clinical Trials Program: As New Jersey’s only pediatric bone marrow transplant center, our program focuses on both improving cure rates as well as minimizing the short- and long-term side effects for children going through a bone marrow transplant.

Cure and Beyond Program: The program focuses on the long-term health, emotional and social issues specific to pediatric cancer survivors.

Join us at Vision Sports Club, Saturday June 24th 9am to 12pm for our fitness event to raise funds for children's cancer. The event will be focused on 4 team building workouts.

You you do not want to participate please volunteer your time to judge, keep scores, or help move equipment. If you can not make the whole event stop in and show your support & if you can not make it please make a donation.

Thank you
